My Body Reflects What an Extraordinary and Unique Person I am

This week’s Affirmation of the Week is an extension of our first affirmation.

“My body reflects what an extraordinary and unique person I am.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. This statement reminds me of how incredibly amazing my body, mind, and spirit are. Though I haven’t always taken the best care of myself-my body is a direct reflection of how I think, feel, and act, whether it’s positive or negative. This reminds me to be positive in everything I do in life, including not only the words I say, but also in my decisions to make healthy choices for myself.

I used to think, “I’m young, the weight will come off eventually.” Now, years after the weight gain, I’ve yo-yo’d, even coming within 20 pounds of my goal weight, only to be back at square one. I’m not getting any younger, and I’m watching my family deteriorate with a wide variety of conditions. My family’s still fairly young-Mom and Dad are in their 40s, grandparents are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. When it hit me that most of their health ailments are a direct result of the way they carelessly treated their bodies as they aged, I realized that they did me a favor. They showed me what not to do, while I still have enough time to fix it!

This affirmation helps me to remember to stick to my goals… and that if I don’t want to end up sick and unable to live my life the way I want to, I need to do something now.

It’s working well for me, and it can for you, too. Try adding this background to your phone or computer screen and see how it impacts your day. Comment below if you’ll commit to saying this affirmation 3 times today out loud.

I’m usually not big on this kind of thing, but I did try it for three days. I like where it’s going. I’m noticing I really do feel better about who I am. Thanks!

This is an excellent reminder that I need to treat my body with respect. I will be saying this at least three times today to see if it changes how I feel.
